365 Connect and Operation Spark Brings Students, Mentors, and Community Together for Decode Hackathon

NEW ORLEANS, LA - 365 Connect, a leading provider of award-winning marketing, leasing, and resident technology platforms for the multifamily housing industry, announced their participation in Operation Spark's Decode Hackathon. The 3-day event will be held from March 17 - 20, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Decode is a weekend-long hackathon focused on exposing high school students to new software techniques, project management, coding, and design thinking skills. Attendees will participate in an innovative educational experience that provides students with exposure to career opportunities while empowering them with the skills to make a positive impact in their community. The event will directly affect over 100 aspiring software developers from public high schools throughout the Greater New Orleans area.

"We are excited to have 365 Connect participate in our Decode Hackathon Event,” said John Fraboni, CEO of Operation Spark. “This event provides students with an opportunity to experience the power of bringing designers and engineers together in small numbers to positively impact their communities through software development. This event aligns with our coding boot camp mission where we empower low-opportunity young adults with software development skills so they can enter into high wage careers. 365 Connect continues to be a strong supporter of the technology community as well as the future of our city, and its youth.”

365 Connect Founder and CEO Kerry W. Kirby stated, “365 Connect is excited to participate in this event that introduces our future innovators to team work, time management, and the importance of community. Operation Spark is inspiring our youth to engage in educational programs, which are necessary to build a strong technology community and even stronger city. We want our future innovators to know that we stand ready to support them, as they are a vital part of the new economy that is pushing the Silicon Bayou forward.”

Operation Spark is bringing together its brightest students, mentors, and community partners for Decode. Decode's objective is to partner high school students with professionals in a design seminar setting. Teams of students and computer programmers will prototype software solutions by building full-stack web applications, which are skills geared towards the hackathon's goal of introducing career path options to attendees. Groups will then present their projects at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW) on Monday, March 20, 2017.
